Josh Thorpe unveils artistic visuals for gorgeous single Honeysuckle Moon!
Glasgow-based Canadian Josh Thorpe has unveiled the visuals for his latest single, Honeysuckle Moon. Taken from the recently released album Love & Weather out now via Unusual Music Exchange.
A spacious, ethereal track, Honeysuckle Moon emotes the percussive openness of artists such as Dirty Three, Smog and Bonnie 'Prince' Billy.
Joined on bass by Rory Haye (Alex Rex), and drums by Owen Curtis Williams (Withered Hand, eagleowl), Love & Weather pushes minimalist rock and roll to new places with alternative tunings, non-traditional structures, and song lyrics by turns funny and obscure. Thorpe takes cues from Toronto’s underground music scene ranging from Eric Chenaux to Sandro Perri and Jennifer Castle. Merging this sound with the likes of Velvet Underground, Sonic Youth, Kurt Vile and the sonic experiments of the '60s and '70s, Thorpe has cultivated a unique collection of songs for adventurous listeners.

Mick Dimitri releases anthemic new single Take My Hand!
To celebrate the release of his eclectic debut EP Take My Hand, Italian singer-songwriter Mick Dimitri has now shared the stunning new video for his anthemic title track, out now.
Talking about the single, Mick explains, “Take My Hand is a sad fairy tale I wrote when I was 16. A girl runs away from home and moves to Los Angeles to become an actress, but falls into addiction and becomes a prostitute. The irony is it took me years to complete it and, of all places, I happened to finish it in LA - where it was mixed by Grammy Award winner Dave Pensado."
Mick got his first big break in the music industry whilst waiting tables for Ed Sheeran in 2018. The pair hit it off immediately and resulted in Ed inviting Mick to open for him on his Divide tour - alongside Zara Larsson and James Bay - when he was just nineteen. Now twenty, Mick is ready to begin the next chapter of his musical career and introduce listeners further to his innovative contemporary pop sound.
The Ghibertins share anthemic new single 20149 - Milano!
Milan-based indie-rockers The Ghibertins return with the release of their anthemic new single 20149 - Milano, out now via Mob Sound Records.
The single is oozing with sonic twists and turns from the offset. Sweeping guitar twangs are met with pulsating drums beats and orchestral soundscapes in order to create a sound that is undeniably palpable. Frontman Alessio Hofmann’s distinctive vocal is at the forefront throughout, channelling the likes of Editor’s Tom Smith. Talking about the single, Alessio explains, “while the band was working on the album, I went on a solo trip to Guangzhou, China. After a couple of weeks, I began to develop a certain sense of alienation. One evening I wanted to find the feelings I needed to feel in order to write the track that represents the fall of the main character, so I took a piece of paper, a pen and rushed through the streets of Taojin. Drink and drink again! This was the goal. Why 20149 - Milano? The next day I found on my piece of paper, 20149 written obsessively over and over again. 20149; my home zip code.”

Irish newcomer Chris Short teams up with SJ Talbot on Flint & Steel!
Irish newcomer Chris Short teams up with singer-songwriter SJ Talbot on new single Flint & Steel, out now via Beardfire Music.
The single oozes delicacy as cascading folk sensibilities and twinkling shimmers of electronica are able to soar meticulously throughout. Chris and Talbot’s vocals compliment each other effortlessly, sounding akin to the likes of The Lumineers or Of Monsters and Men as a result. Talking about the single, Chris explains, “flint on its own doesn’t do much - and steel the same - but if you strike them together sparks fly. So much has to be in place to create the perfect environment, very similar to when two people come together and either connect or not. I also talk about the flip side were getting close to someone is great, but it has the potential to hurt when it goes wrong. Sometimes we take the risk and it pays off, sometimes we don’t allow something more than a one-night stand, as the song goes, ‘and no one gets hurt’.”
Flint & Steel is the third single to be taken from Chris’ forthcoming EP, Somewhere, due for release on 4th June 2021.
