Guitar-pop crooner CHERITON returns with So In Love!

Slacker-pop crooner CHERITON - aka Nick Harrison - returns with the release of his celestial new single So In Love out now via So Good So Good.

Combining indie-pop, surf-rock and psychedelic sensibilities, Nick’s latest cut proves he is not afraid to defy genre. Produced by Andy Hall Hall (BastilleFickle FriendsJames Gillespie), So In Love is a song about time.

Speaking on his new video, the singer said, “making the video for So In Love was an incredible experience, from start to finish, I feel so proud to have made something so beautiful with my closest friends and family. Tom Andrews approached me first with the desire to make something, I played him So In Love and he got it straight away. He understood the tenderness in the track and wrote the vid to match that, his interpretation.”

A.S. Fanning shares eloquently dark new single You Should Go Mad!

Ahead of the release of his his idiosyncratic new album, multi-instrumentalist A.S. Fanning - aka Stephen Fanning - has shared his powerful new single and title track You Should Go Mad, out now via Proper Octopus Records.

You Should Go Mad uses foreboding lyricism and layered sonic synth textures throughout, creating an assertively endearing sound as a result. Fanning’s impassioned baritone vocal soars effortlessly across the carefully crafted album, sounding instantly reminiscent of the likes of The National’s Matt Berninger or The Horrors’ Faris Badwin.

Talking about the single, Fanning explains, ‘its is a song about mental illness or ill-health, or more specifically about anxiety. The title came from Moby Dick. There’s a section in it where Ahab is speaking with the blacksmith, Perth. Perth has had a lot of misfortune in his life but is a very stoical person. Ahab tells him ‘I am impatient of all misery in others that is not mad. Thou should’st go mad, blacksmith’. I suppose I found it a funny piece of advice, the idea that madness is somehow a beneficial choice, or preferential to internal turmoil.”

A.S Fanning's album You Should Go Mad is out on 13th November 2020 via Proper Octopus Records.
