Attic Lights frontman Kev Sherry serves up an uplifting slice of jangle-pop on Wasted Days!

Kev Sherry, singer for the critically acclaimed four-piece Attic Lights (Island RecordsElefant Records), makes a welcome return as he unveils his indelible new solo track Wasted Days, out on now.

Collaborating with renowned producer Paul Savage (MogwaiThe DelgadosFranz FerdinandArab Strap), and using a guitar borrowed from Tracyanne Campbell (Camera ObscuraTracyanne & Danny) and a bass guitar borrowed from Francis MacDonald (Teenage Fanclub), Kev has produced an uplifting, earnest piece of jangle-pop music juxtaposed with weighty, reflective personal lyrical content. Combining the snappy melodies of contemporary acts like Courtney Barnett and Alvvays with the yearning simplicity associated with classic bands such as The Lemonheads and The PastelsWasted Days sees Kev challenge the banal, indistinctive sound of modern indie guitar music by reconnecting with the sound of shambolic, loose guitars, catchy melodies, bare production and raw recording.

Wasted Days is out now and available to stream on Spotify and Soundcloud.

Night House release the haunting debut album Everyone Is Watching From Afar!

Brighton's Night House have released their debut album Everyone Is Watching From Afar via Back in The Woods Records.

Having had their tour cancelled while in Germany due to the Coronavirus, Night House are delighted to finally have the chance to share their sumptuous soundscapes with music lovers all over the world.

Drawing from a wide range of influences marrying the electronic work the likes of which James Blake and Radiohead are renowned for, with the folk harmonies of Sufjan StevensJoni Mitchell, and Bon Iver, Night House have carved out their very own unique sound. Co-produced and mixed by Dan Brown (Massive AttackJerry WilliamsLuca), the record was written during a period of family bereavement with the personal lyrics drifting over warm strings and clarinets, where layered vocal harmonies meet icy synthesizers and electronic beats.

Marrying beautiful, uplifting ethereal harmonies with modern electronica, the band create a warm, intelligent sound that is reminiscent of Björk and Wild Beasts, with lead singer Nicholas Williams aptly described by Radio Reverb as a “falsetto Tom Waits”. This has seen Night House pick up support from tastemakers such as M-Magazine (PRS for Music) and Clash Magazine, as well as premiering a video on Attitude Magazine and an exclusive album stream running on God is in the TV.

Brendon channels Nick Drake and Cat Stevens on new single Hold My Hand!

B.jpg

Singer-songwriter Brendon has released his latest single, Hold My Hand

A gentle, reflective song offering much needed tranquility in these difficult times, Hold My Hand is the title track from his forthcoming album (out April 17th) and the follow up to recent single The Hats. Forty years since being catapulted into the public stream of consciousness through the release of disco hit, and Jimmy “Bo” Horne cover, ‘Gimme Some’ in 1977, Brendon has returned to his roots.

Hold My Hand is a cerebral, intimate love song that showcases Brendon’s ability as a lyricist, songwriter and singer. Hold My Hand begins with expertly picked guitar, which is accented by Brendon’s unique spoken word style delivery, before building into an uplifting, memorable chorus, and further enhanced by choral harmonies and soothing brass notes.

Let's Talk About the Weather discusses our connection to each other, nature and ourselves in a time of climate crisis. “I wanted to make an album which sounds on the surface like alt-pop music, and is full of collected sounds from our times and the world around us,” Emily explains. “I feel like there’s a lot of hope and a yearning to connect to something deeper, and reassess what’s important, but also dark undertones of where we could be headed if we don’t wake up and change.” Let’s Talk About The Weather once again showcase’s Emily’s unique ability to create glittering spacial soundscapes that shimmer endlessly, as brooding swirls of electronics and effervescent melodies intertwine. Emily’s beautifully rich vocals soar effortlessly over the organic textures, creating a sound that is both seductive and spellbinding. Fans of the likes of Sylvan Esso and Overcoats will feel at home here.

Catch Emily live at her album launch on Friday 23rd October 2020. This will be an immersive, empowering music event in the incredible old ash pit tunnels at the Loco Klub in Bristol. Emily will be joined by Kieran Ball (guitar, synth, autoharp) and Jamie Brown (drums) in order to create a dynamic live sound that gets the audience moving.
