Chloe Foy soars into 2020 with the enchantingly introspective Callous Copper!
Poignant singer-songwriter Chloe Foy soars into 2020 with her enchantingly introspective new single Callous Copper, out now via AntiFragile. The single is taken from Chloe's upcoming EP, of the same name, due for release on 21st February 2020 via AntiFragile.
Lyrically intimate and sonically tender, Callous Copper bewitches instantly. Mixing sweeping melodies with Chloe’s silk, smooth vocals and distinctively bittersweet songwriting style, Chloe has managed to create a sound that is both relatable and blissfully emotive. Fans of the likes of Laura Marling and Julia Jacklin will feel at home here.
The EP - Callous Copper - is a intimate selection of songs, old and new, that have been re-imagined within the setting of a string quartet. Each track effortlessly compliments the next as the violin, viola and cello combine to create a sound that is otherworldly. Talking about the EP, Chloe elaborates, “I adore string music and think so much can be brought out in a song with the addition of violin, viola and ‘cello. So that’s what I’ve aimed for here - a collection of songs, old and new and a cover of one of my favourites by Neil Young. All about birth, love, death and everything in between.”

Carl Street channels Johnny Cash on new single Bunking The Midnight Train!
Multi-instrumentalist Carl Street is delighted to announce the release of his country-tinged new single, Bunking the Midnight Train.
The title track from his debut album, due for release on 31st January 2020, Bunking the Midnight Train is a bittersweet, reflective piece of music tackling themes of everyday struggles, mental health issues and the strength we gain from loved ones to persevere.
Despite the weight of the subject matter, Bunking the Midnight Train is, sonically, an upbeat, comforting journey that offers a wry take on the difficulties we all face in our lives. Combining elements of traditional country with blues-style guitar segments and folk, Bunking the Midnight Train comes to life through the injection of Carl’s rich, earthy vocals.
Approachable Members Of Your Local Community release insatiably addictive new single Small Change!
Ahead of the release of their upcoming EP Love Thy Neighbour, indie-funk quartet Approachable Members Of Your Local Community have now shared their vibrant new single Small Change, out now via AntiFragile.
Not one to be pigeonholed, Approachable Members Of Your Local Community combine elements of indie, electro, funk and disco throughout the EP to create a sound that is unapologetically fun-filled. Catchy hooks soar above bright, pulsating chords and 80s funk-infused synths, resulting in spirited indie-pop soundscapes akin to the likes of Vampire Weekend and Metronomy. Small Change is no exception, as its hook-laden melodies take centre stage, blistering with energy throughout. The single’s meaning is also incredibly poignant and more important that ever in the light of the ongoing Australian bushfire tragedies. “This summer has been challenging for so many we know and love, and especially for many whose experiences have been unimaginably traumatic and devastating,” Micky Fisher (bass) explains. “In the face of a national crisis, the country has galvanised to take back tomorrow. With an outpouring of support for our firefighters and affected communities, it’s clear that small change can have a big impact.”
Approachable Members will be raising funds for the bushfire relief efforts at all of their upcoming live shows. Details will be posted in the coming weeks.
Love Thy Neighbour is out on 14th February 2020 via AntiFragile.
Eliza Shaddad releases unmasked and unapologetic new single Same As You!
To celebrate the release of her powerfully poignant EP Sept ~ Dec, Eliza Shaddad has now shared the unmasked and unapologetic new single Same As You.
Written in an abandoned flight simulation building on an old airbase in Suffolk, Same As You combines chiming dream-pop with shimmering indie-rock sensibilities to create a sound that is both tantalisingly nostalgic and assertively contemporary. Eliza’s soft, breathy vocals reminiscent of the likes of Julia Jacklin and Marika Hackman.
The EP deals with different forms of withdrawal and isolation. Written in tandem with Eliza’s debut album Future - but set apart - the songs focus on new and different people in her life, dealing with sex, normalcy, friendship, and craving connections. Throughout the EP, Eliza’s trademark honesty is at the forefront, allowing the listener to feel seen and entirely encapsulated by Eliza’s powerful vulnerability. Recorded in the front room of a bungalow in the wilds of Cornwall, the EP is a snapshot of the last few months of self-imposed isolation for Eliza, working with co-producer BJ Jackson to test the limits of an improvised, highly DIY studio, keeping all instrumentation extremely lo-fi. Eliza elaborates, “I wanted to be able to record at whim and capture the feelings and moods of these songs right in the moment, so we set up loads of gear and basically lived around it, refining and recording and refining. We kept crazy hours and got cabin fever most days, and then went and jumped in the sea and came back to work”.
Catch Eliza Shaddad live next as she supports Keane on their upcoming European tour and also in March 2020 when she embarks on her latest UK tour, culminating in a highly anticipated show at London's Scala on 19th March 2020.
