Dudley Benson takes us on an avant-pop trip with his Matariki Remix EP!

DudleyB.jpg

New Zealand’s Dudley Benson is delighted to share his softly emotional collection of avant-pop trips in the form of his Matariki Remix EP, out now. The EP features collaborations from Barbara Morgenstern,KTN, Kolya, Jerry Watts and Eyeliner. Talking about the EP, Dudley elaborates, "there’ve been some incredible remixes for the singles so far, but the Matariki remixes have somehow magically gelled to make this flowing little collection that reinforce what the song is about: death and connection to our ancestors through the natural world. Barbara Morgenstern is a Berlin-based musician who I met in 2007 when she performed in Auckland, and we’ve collaborated several times since then. I feel like she has this innate understanding of what makes pop great, and I admire her so much. I also worked with several New Zealand producers."

Woozy alt-pop duo ST. MARTiiNS return with another seductively sweet new single to add to their critically acclaimed repertoire. My Girl is out now via LAB Records. Dynamic in execution, My Girl is as visceral as it is poignant. Lead singer Katie Lynch’s distinctively dreamy vocals are at the forefront, soaring effortlessly languid melodies and surging guitar twangs to create a sound that is charmingly evocative. Talking about the single, Katie elaborates, “My Girl is one of our only genuinely fun and free songs. It is about my friendships with my best female friends and how simultaneously annoying and fulfilling they have been. A good fun song for mid-summer in a time of complete political chaos around us. But we will get into that later.”

Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard reinvented rock for the modern age with their fuzz-filled single, Love Forever, out now via Big Indie Records. Now, the quartet have shared a psychedelic new video to coincide with the release and its premiering on Gigwise now. Their exhilarating new release takes inspiration from 70s greats such as T. Rex and Thin Lizzy, adding an extra element of scrappy swagger to the fold. Frontman Tom Rees’ distinctive lead vocal feels instantly reminiscent of the likes of Marc Bolan, whilst the raw, reverb-heavy twangs of the guitar take us back into the sweaty 21st century.
