Yvonne McDonnell
“...a powerful mix which draws the listener in.” - For Folk’s Sake
Singer-songwriter Yvonne McDonnell returns with her stirring new single Its Not That Cold Anymore, out on 29th November 2019.
Inspired by vintage photography, the single tells the story of how loneliness can be felt at any time, even times when we are supposed to be full of happiness and warmth, like at Christmas. Yvonne elaborates, “it’s a story of love lost, and a longing to hear from people we care about, who are no longer in our lives.” Its Not That Cold Anymore feels instantly compelling as the gentle musicality floats effortlessly underneath Yvonne’s distinctive vibrato, creating a sound that is both emotive and intricate. Fans of the likes of Joanna Newsom and Kate Rusby will feel at home here.
Originally from East London, Yvonne started performing acoustically in 2012 at university in Portsmouth. Yvonne’s last two EPs Endless Soul and Not Her Own have received praise from numerous publications including Folk Radio, For Folk’s Sake, Gigslutz and FATEA Magazine to name a few. She has also gained support from the likes of BBC Introducing’s Tom Robinson, BBC Radio Scotland and Lancashire, as well as performing live sessions for Sofar Sounds in London and Cambridge amongst others. With Its Not That Cold Anymore, Yvonne will continue to captivate listeners further with her poignant blend of brooding alt-folk.
