The Good Manners

Rising funk-soul duo The Good Manners prepare for the release of their eclectic debut EP, Godspeed, out 17th July 2020.

Infectiously groovy from the offset, Godspeed combines retro-soul and funk sensibilities with contemporary R&B-infused pop elements, in order to create a sound that is full-bodied and undeniably vibrant. Upcoming single High Roller feels instantly reminiscent of the likes of Vulfpeck and Sly & The Family Stone, as lead singer Marcos Gonzalez’ soulfully reverberant vocal soars effortlessly over the gyrating bass and funk-forward musicality. Talking about the EP, the duo elaborate, “Godspeed represents good fortune for any journey that you’re about to embark on. All of our songs are a representation of the where we currently were in our lives and where we want to go next.”

After leaving their home countries of Guatemala and Spain, Marcos and producer Gabriel Robles (guitar/bass/keys) met at university in London in 2016. Despite their different backgrounds, Marcos and Gabriel bonded over their love of classic funk and soul, combined with their deeply rooted latin influence. Since then, The Good Manners have gone from strength to strength, having already gained over 161k plays on Spotify, as well as being featured on Spotify’s official Ready for the Day playlist. The duo have also headlined at London’s prestigious OMEARA venue, as well as having previously sold out Paper Dress Vintage.

Godspeed is out 17th July 2020.
