“…lush vocals over showy guitars and a tense synth drama.” - Loud Women

Emerging artist Sophie Mahon returns with the release of her vibrant new single Bogart’s Eyes, out 3rd September 2021.

Inspired by new-wave influences such as Roxy Music, Duran Duran and David Bowie, Bogarts Eyes once again showcases Sophie’s unique ability to combines nostalgic synth-infused elements of the 80s with modern sensibilities in order to create a sound that undeniably charming and infectious. Talking about the single, Sophie explains, “Bogart's Eyes is about wanting to know what real love is like; where the little things mean a lot and it all falls into place so easily. The lyrics are as if I am having a conversation with Lauren Bacall (Bogie's wife), who he adored with all his heart up till the day he died. I wrote it one night, after watching Dark Passage; a film which they were both in together, and I use quotes from. I felt lonely that night and the only way I felt better was to imagine asking her what it was like to be loved that way.”

In 2013, Sophie left the royal navy to go to music college and she hasn’t looked back since. In 2018, Sophie was joined by producer Dawn Firth-Godbehere (Lead and rhythm guitar) and Richard Firth-Godbehere (Bass, keys, synths). Sophie has already received support from the likes of BBC Introducing Suffolk and Norfolk and she also supported 80s legends The Blow Monkeys back in 2019 with her band the Ready Mades.

Bogart’s Eyes is the second single to be taken from Sophie’s upcoming album Bogart’s Eyes, which is due for release on 1st October 2021. Each song is inspired by one of Humphrey Bogart's films and features guest musicians Emily Dolan-Davies (Bryan Ferry, Kim Wilde, The Thompson Twins), Martin Dobson (Eurythmics, Jimmy Sommerville and Siouxie & the Banshees). 10% of physical release sales will go towards Cancer Research UK and Royal Navy & Royal Marine Charity and the album was funded by public funding from The National Lottery through Art Council England.

Bogart’s Eyes is out on 3rd September 2021.
