Scottish newcomer Nikhita gets ready to make waves with the release of her immersive new single Golden Child, out 3rd May 2023.

Written about her personal and familial struggles with the clash between her queer and cultural identity, the track combines South Asian inspired melodies and instrumentation with R&B infused soundscapes in order to create a sound that is truly mesmerising. Talking about the single, Nikhita elaborates, “its about the failure to live up to traditional expectations despite feeling connected to my heritage, something I feel a lot of people will resonate with today”.

Currently based in Edinburgh, Nikhita is already well established within the Scottish live circuit. She has already supported the likes of Connie Constance and Eva Lazarus, as well as previously performing at PITCH Scotland, Aberdeen True North Festival, Virgin Hotels Eve Live and Unsigned, Burns and Beyond Festival and Sofar Sounds Edinburgh to name a few. Nikhita’s debut single ‘Aphrodite’ received praise from the likes of BBC Asian Network - earning her an Artist of The Week feature - alongside plays on BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Introducing to name a few.

With Golden Child, Nikhita is ready to make her music to the next level and continue to captivate audiences across the UK and beyond.
