"...a delightful mix of ambient folk and upbeat electronic sounds…” - Nialler9

"A unique blend of ambient electronica with a distinctly indie vocal edge...” - Hot Press

Dublin-based quartet Let’s Set Sail prepare to release their undeniably compelling collection of ambient vignettes - Enzo - on 1st October 2021.

Opening with previous single Toledo, Let’s Set Sail create a sound that is oozing with textured atmospherics from the offset. Midnight Daylight (in Lavapiés) follows suit, as frontman Warren McCarthy’s distinctive vocal style entwines effortlessly with vocalist Marian Hughes’ celestial harmonies, Ian Dunphy's ambient electronics and pianist Rob Molumby’s skilful musicianship, creating a completely mesmerising sound as a result. Fans of the likes of Metronomy and Sylvan Esso will feel at home here. Throughout the EP, minimalist folktronica is met with atmospheric soundscapes that soar effortlessly, creating a totally immersive experience for the listener as a result.

Every song on the EP is about, or at least refers to, a particular location. “The first two refer to locations in Spain - Toledo and Madrid,” the band explain. “Warren’s girlfriend was living there a few years ago, so these songs were formed following his visits to her. A Savage Goo is set in Amsterdam but is essentially focused on an appreciation of friends from home, and being relieved and happy that they are well. Our Collective Brain and The Vee are songs about Ireland. Both songs combine a declaration of love and a statement of condemnation towards life in Dublin, and Ireland as a whole. The negative aspects were influenced by current social and economic issues in the country, particularly the housing crisis. The positivity and hope contained in both songs is formed from an unshakeable attachment to home, and considering there to be a beauty in that.”

Let’s Set Sail have been performing in their current form since 2016 and since then, the dreamy quartet have gone from strength to strength. They have received praise from the likes of Hot Press, The Irish Times, Nialler9 and The Thin Air to name a few. With Enzo, Let’s Set Sail hope to captivate listeners further with their unique blend of ambient folktronica.

Enzo is out on 1st October 2021.
