Kev Sherry
The Bluff is the new single from Attic Lights frontman, Kev Sherry, looking at the hypocrisy of the human heart, our hang ups, self denials, pride, lies and the ways in which we hide our feelings with bluster.
Kev Sherry is a songwriter, indie musician, journalist, comic writer and novelist. He has performed in the indie guitar band Attic Lights since 2005 and released three critically acclaimed albums Friday Night Lights (Island/Universal Records, 2008), Super De Luxe (Elefant Records, 2013) and Love In The Time of Shark Attacks (Elefant Records, 2019).
Kev has recently recorded his debut solo album, Foxy Orthodoxy, with producer Paul Savage (The Delgados, Franz Ferdinand, Mogwai, Arab Strap) which is part of a triptych involving the comic Warpaint and his debut novel Here Be Apples.
In music he has collaborated with international artist like Bjorn Yttling, Cerys Matthews and La Casa Azul and his songs have been remixed by Mogwai, Camera Obscura, The Fratellis, Jim Noir and The Vaselines. His music with Attic Lights has appeared on HBO’s comedy drama Divorce, Netflix’s Elite, MTV’s Teen Mom, BBC’s The Culture Show, Hairy Bikers, The One Show, Sportscene, Channel 4’s Wife Swap, Come Dine With Me and many more. .
The Bluff is inspired by acts like Courtney Barnett, Alvvays, The Lemonheads, Surfer Blood and Best Coast. With an acoustic guitar borrowed from Tracyanne Campbell (Camera Obscura/Tracyanne & Danny) and a bass borrowed from Teenage Fanclub’s Francis MacDonald, the track was recorded in 2019 and is part of a shared universe alongside Kev’s critically acclaimed comic Warpaint. Forthcoming album Foxy Orthodoxy is a document of our times, exploring themes prevalent in Kev’s journalism and comic work anarchism, feminism, gender politics, the ideological culture wars, the cult of personality and the hypocrisy of the human heart.
