From The Tiger’s Mouth
From The Tiger’s Mouth is the solo project of London-born musician, Harry Sullivan. Having gained success playing in epic indie band Bengal Lancers, Harry entered the post-pandemic world with a fresh perspective. With their creative influences diverging, Bengal Lancers were no more and Harry was free to explore a more nuanced style of songwriting.
From The Tiger’s Mouth was officially unveiled March 2022 with the release of debut single ‘Morning News’. Blending elements of indie, rock and electronica, Harry finally had the freedom to play with genre. The track picked up support from home and abroad, including Backseat Mafia and Radio X, as well as some notable Spotify playlist additions. The success built upon the foundations Bengal Lancers had previously laid with the likes of Clash Magazine, Louder Than War, BBC Radio and Radio X all supporting their work.
Fast forward a year and From The Tiger’s Mouth has returned with lates single, Getting Old. A song about facing up to our own mortality; an inevitability in life we all face but struggle to accept. As Harry says, “...we're all only here for a finite amount of time and I guess I've reached a point where selfishly, I don't want the party to stop.”
Lyrically, Getting Old wrestles with the idea of us freezing in the moment, gripped by anxiety as fear takes over our ability to do the things we really want to. The track builds throughout as Harry illustrates his talent for writing anthemic choruses, bubbling with uplifting melodies. Getting Old blends the rousing call and receive choral chanting of Biffy Clyro with the the emotionally-charged indie-rock of the likes of Augustines and The National. Getting Old underlines Harry’s willingness to take a chance in life, leaving his old band and starting anew, an example we can all grasp as we navigate this journey through life.
Getting Old is out on 24th March 2023.
