Dan Sumner

“…a modern sounding mix of folk and blues with an electric thrum that permeates throughout.” -  FATEA

Singer-songwriter Dan Sumner returns with the release of his poignant new single Let The Light In, out 18th September 2020 via AWAL.

Combining indie-rock and alt-folk sensibilities, the single is filled with sweeping guitar twangs and tranquil harmonies throughout. Dan’s impassioned baritone vocal soars effortlessly over the rich, textured soundscapes, feeling instantly reminiscent of the likes of Frightened Rabbit’s Scott Hutchison or The National’s Matt Berninger as a result. Talking about Let The Light In, Dan elaborates, “its about someone locking themselves away from the world and everyone they know and is a plea for them to look outside to see that there are people who love them and a world outside which has a lot to offer.”

Dan began performing solo in 2011 after his band The Dan Sumner Quartet disbanded in 2009. Since then, Dan has gone from strength to strength and has already received praise from the likes of FATEA and Roots & Fusion, as well as BBC Radio Sussex and Surrey to name a few. He has also performed on the Busking for Solaraid stage at The Big Chill.

Let The Light In is the second single to be taken from Dan’s upcoming album Ebb and Flow, due for release in November 2020.
