Crawford Mack
“…a knack for penning an effortlessly enjoyable melody…”
- The Scotsman
Glaswegian artist Crawford Mack is back with the sound of the summer. His latest single Kicks is out on 17th June 2021.
Mack’s playful new single is full of upbeat, sonic twists and turns that are bound to get toes tapping instantly. Kicks was written with the express purpose of having some fun, sparked by a moment in time; “I was out for a walk in Victoria Park and got caught by a wave of optimism from seeing a group of people hanging out with a speaker blaring Franz Ferdinand,” Mack explains. “I was actually taking a break from writing a slightly darker song, came back and changed the whole thing!”
After moving from Glasgow to London to study at The Guildhall School. Crawford Mack played with a variety of musicians on various projects, crossing genres from his original jazz background through rock to electronic and classical music. Since then, Mack has supported artists such as Tom Walker, Damien Dempsey and The Paper Kites, and played gigs at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, Islington Assembly Hall, SWG3, O2 Academy Liverpool and The Bedford. Further afield, he's played Fête de la Musique festival in Hanover, Sofar Sounds gigs in NYC & Philadelphia, and toured Mexico. Mack’s previous supporters include The Scotsman, Songwriting Magazine and God Is In The TV, as well as BBC 6Music’s Tom Robinson, BBC Radio Scotland’s Roddy Hart and Amazing Radio’s Jim Gellatly to name a few.
To celebrate the release, Crawford plays a headline London show at The Servant Jazz Quarters in Dalston on 16th September 2021 with support from Abi Farrell. Tickets are available from Dice via this link.
