Annie Elise
Emerging electronic producer and artist Annie Elise prepares to release her celestial debut EP Breathe In, Breathe Out on 8th April 2022.
With only 2% of top charting songs currently being produced by women, Annie is on a mission to elevate women in music production and be the visible figure and role model she wishes she had when she was growing up. Breathe In, Breathe Out is beautifully evocative from the offset as Annie’s euphoric vocal effortless soar over cleverly crafted electronics throughout, creating a sound that is undeniably enchanting as a result. Upcoming single Too Scared To Ask combines seductive synths with R&B-infused soundscapes, whilst previous singles Again and Again and We Can Pretend showcase Annie’s more ambient side, sounding akin to the likes of Shura and Robyn.
Talking about the EP, Annie explains, “Breathe In, Breathe Out is my honest, genuine story of my worst year to date. It's filled with grief, loss, doubt, stress, surgeries, hospital visits, and sexism - but also perseverance, finding inner strength, identity, and recognition. The emotional story of the EP starts with confusion, depression, and overwhelming pain and grief and as those feelings get explored, the EP ends on a lighter note of optimism and peace.”
Through a life of seeing sounds and hearing colour, twenty year old Annie Elise is inspired by her synesthesia. Originally a classically trained violinist, Annie’s interest in electronic music stems from the neurological condition, even referring to herself as a “conductor for colour” as she creates music that produces colours she likes to see. After giving a talk about synesthesia at TEDxLancaster with over 115k+ views, she has been an active songwriter, producer, engineer, and instrumentalist for a number of different artists and projects. Now focusing on herself, Annie is ready to show the electronic music scene all she has to offer.
For the release of the EP, we are partnering with the non-profit organisation Someone To Tell It To which is dedicated to the power of compassionate listening in today’s society.
Breathe In, Breathe Out is out on 8th April 2022.
