“HAVVK's ability to write provoking music is endlessly exciting." - Earmilk

“…a raucous dip into empowerment…”- The Line of Best Fit

“…stunning…” - Noisey

Formidable Irish outfit HAVVK continue to create poignant sonic soundscapes with Operate, out on 8th November 2019 via Veta Records.

Combining elements of shoegaze, indie-rock and grunge, HAVVK are able to make their own haunting euphoria that is undeniably compelling. Julie Hawk’s distinctively impassioned vocals are at the forefront, feeling instantly reminiscent to the likes of The CranberriesDolores O’Riordan or The Cocteau TwinsElizabeth Fraser. Of the track, Julie explains, "Operate is about someone who is living moment-to-moment without really checking in with themselves. It’s about somebody caught up in productivity, pressures and commitments but has lost sight of why. I have definitely spun into this way of living before, and at times it’s effected my health, my relationships and my perspective on where I should be putting my energy. There’s been a massive culture-shift towards measuring our happiness by productivity. Our digital lives mean that there’s always something we can be achieving and we have fewer obvious moments to switch off and connect with ourselves or the humans around us."

Having originally formed in London in 2015, HAVVK then split their time between London, Dublin and Berlin for while before now residing back in Dublin. They have collaborated with Belfast based producer Rocky O’Reilly (And So I Watch You From Afar, Touts, Brand New Friend) for the last two years to help develop their unique sound. Julie has also cofounded SelfMade - a platform to explore DIY music in Ireland through performance, discussion, and art, HAVVK have previously received support from Noisey, The 405, Stereogum, Wonderland, DIY, Clash, and The Line Of Best Fit to name but a few. They have been praised by the likes of BBC 6Music’s Lauren Laverne, Tom Robinson and Chris Hawkins, as well BBC Radio London and Radio X, as well as being featured on Spotify’s official Alternative Generation, Feelgood Indie, Fresh Finds: Six Strings and The Alternative Éire playlists.

Operate is out on 8th November via Veta Records, followed by HAVVK’s debut album, Cause & Effect, due for release on 22nd November 2019.
