Formidable artist Dyan Valdés rejects toxic masculinity with the release of her powerful new single I Remember What You Said, out on 10th February 2023.

Being released ahead of Valentines Day, I Remember What You Said is an uplifting reminder that the most important relationship we have is the one with ourselves. Dyan’s highly relatable yet cutting lyrics are at the forefront, making the lightness of the musicality the perfect contrast. Written as an ode to anyone who has been affected by an abusive relationship of any kind, with this song Dyan wants to celebrate inner strength and our ability to decide for ourselves who to be and to love ourselves unconditionally.

Talking about the single, Dyan elaborates, "years ago I was in a toxic relationship with a man who constantly put me down, told me to quit music, said my friends and family didn’t care about me, and managed to convince me that I was worthless. While I can never erase his words from my memory, I can transform my hurt and resentment into something positive: a drive to prove those words wrong. In the song, I look back at the girl I was with compassion, and reassure her that she is going to be just fine”.

Dyan Valdés is a Cuban-American musician living in Berlin. She is a founding member of indie-rock band The Blood Arm (2002-2017), synth-punk trio Mexican Radio (2017-) and plays keyboards for German Hamburger Schule legends Die Sterne (2012-). Die Sterne’s latest album ‘Hallo Euphoria’ reached #38 in Germany, receiving critical acclaim in the process. Dyan has previously received praise from Wonderland Magazine, Under The Radar, Audiofemme and With Guitars, as well as BBC 6Music’s Steve Lamacq to name a few. Dyan also recently supported Franz Ferdinand at the Verti Music Hall in Berlin.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Dyan will be performing her debut solo album Stand when she opens for Die Sterne on 8th March 2023.
