Bugeye

Following the success of their last single Wake Up, Croydon trio Bugeye are back with another slice of riotous disco punk. Having already caught the attention and received plays from the likes of Radio X’s John Kennedy and BBC 6 Music’s Amy Lame, Is This Love? is out now via 31% Wool LTD.

Inspired by Donna Summer’s ‘80s club anthem ‘I Feel Love’, Is This Love? is a twisted play on the theme, asking what love is; reflecting on how it can turn into a suffocating obsession. A truly infectious creation, it’s propelled by raging, synth-driven hooks and intense propulsive beats as Angela Martin’s vocals soar with a fierce punk grit. Produced by Paul Tipler, it’s a wonderfully frenzied, funk-fuelled disco punk anthem.

Showcasing Bugeye’s unwavering DIY attitude, Is This Love? is accompanied by a quirky homemade video, oozing the band’s trademark charm and energy with a psychedelic edge.

The band, formed of Angela Martin (vox, guitar, synths), Paula Snow (bass) and Jack Houston (drums), formed in the late ‘90s playing at some of London’s most notable venues; taking in The Astoria to Wembley and everything in between. Now, following 2016’s Never Let You Go EP, Bugeye have received acclaim from the likes of BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq, Radio X’s John Kennedy, The Revue and Gay Times. They’ve also wowed crowds with their colourful live performances at Camden Rocks Festival, The New Cross Inn and The Monarch, to name a few, and have played alongside bands such as Big Joanie, Vodun and LIINES. Now Bugeye look set to continue to blow listeners away with the driving, vibrant energy of Is This Love?.
